Blurb: Alicia Jansen is humiliated. After her ex leaks nudes of her, the Hollywood actress flees to a hotel deep in the Scottish Highlands. Believing her reputation ruined, Alicia is more than a little distracted when she meets a handsome Scot oblivious to her fame.
Brooding whisky exec Jamie Butler is staying at the same hotel, plotting a course to get the family distillery’s finances back on track. Rocked by his ex’s infidelity, the thought of the romantic chase repels Jamie.
When a snowstorm forces Jamie and Alicia together in a remote mountain bothy there is no escaping their sizzling chemistry. But Alicia is terrified of being isolated with a stranger, and Jamie will never touch a woman – no matter how breathtakingly beautiful – who shivers in his presence.
But could it be that a man sensitive to her hesitation is just the warmth Alicia needs? And if she lets this strapping Scotsman in, might Jamie spark a fire for them both that will blaze forever?
Review: Anyone who reckons that romance is just fluff should read this book! Cooper includes several hard-hitting themes between the spicy scenes, and boy does she knock them out of the park! Fierce, not blinking, but treating the victims with true tenderness. In short, stonkingly well written.
I don’t tend to like romances that make me cry. However, Snowed in With a Scotsman is a soft, safe space that offers you a blanket and a hot chocolate along with the tissues. It’s really heart-warming. Plus, while Alicia and Jamie are there for each other, they learn to heal themselves – and that’s SO important.
Talking of the characters, I really loved them. The care that Jamie showed his dying dad was heart-breaking but so sweet – I could sense the love between them. Alicia could easily have been wishy-washy, but she’s strong despite the awful betrayal visited on her. And their attraction is built slowly and very realistically. With spicy scenes being a nice pay-off. 😉
In short, I loved Snowed in With a Scotsman. I’m definitely going to reread it and look into Cooper’s other books. I like her writing style immensely.
