Blurb: There’s ‘pride’ and ‘prejudice’ in the air!

She thinks he’s a pompous stuffed shirt. He thinks she’s too judgemental. But with an intriguing mystery to solve together, can love blossom?

Lizzie Bennet, new recruit at the Little Duck Pond Café, is well used to people teasing her about her name. Actually, she rather likes the fact she shares it with one of author Jane Austen’s most popular heroines.

But her life is about to become complicated by a very annoying stranger . . .

Review: Firstly, all of Green’s Duck Pond Café series stand alone, which is great when there are 44 of them! She does revisit previous characters, but at no point does she lose the reader. It’s masterfully done.

As is obvious from the title, this book has a very Austen feel to it, with the iconically-named Lizzie Bennet embracing the inspiration of Pride and Prejudice. She even gets her own Mr Darcy – here called Dante.

There is a cosy mystery element to the story which I think adds to it. I’m not saying more about that as I don’t want to ruin the surprise! The writing is light-hearted and fun, with occasional sprinkles of humour. It’s a lovely hug of a book that sweeps you away to a delightful setting and a link to Austen that gives the story great depth.

I’ll be reading more of Green’s books – and with 43 others, I have plenty to choose from!
