Review: Oh, my GOD, this is a fun book! I raced through it in just two days – something that’s almost unheard of for me these days (grief does a number on your concentration).

I absolutely adored Chloe, the heroine, but found Lockie occasionally too smug for my liking. The situation that they find themselves in offers the opportunity for a lot of laughs… but a fair few dangers as well. The setting is well described and often put me in mind of Death in Paradise‘s San Marie.

The supporting cast are fun, as well. There’s a guy who won Survivor and become “camp daddy” for his leadership skills. I’d not mind a book dealing with him finding romance, to be honest, because he was a good bloke. I cottoned onto Honey not being quite the airhead she pretended to be fairly early on. She was sweet but in a strong way – the kind of female character I’ll root for.

My only quibble with A Shore Thing – and why it didn’t get 5 stars – is that I found the resolution too quick and easy. What Lockie did was awful, but she pretty much just rolls over and forgives him. That took me out of the story a wee bit. But that was it – I loved the rest of the book!
